Having dogs as a pet can be an effective cure to your loneliness—they’re known as human’s best friend for a reason. But, you should always remember that your pooch can feel lonely too. Maybe it’s fair to spoil your dog with some toys to keep him occupied while you’re busy with your work. And since pet toys don’t come cheap, you will find this ideas of DIY dog toys pretty useful.
DIY Handmade Dog Toys
All these toys do not require you much to make. Instead, you can create them out of the materials you find at home. Of course you will need some effort and creativity for this, but sure that will be no big deal.
Square knot tug toy
Firstly, let’s go with the easiest one. Grab your scissors to prepare for the knot using upcycled fabric. In this case, an elastic one such as fleece is most recommended. You can make use of your old stretchy t-shirt too. Your dog will get excited to tug on the knot as it stretches.
Next, we will work with the rope. We all know dogs love balls, obviously. So, let’s just make one by making a knot out of the rope. To make it more interesting, you can add some tail to the ball. Your pup will surely love this and in the same way, this material is safe for his teeth to chew on.
Octopus fleece toy
Back at it again, using fleece or a worn out t-shirt, you can make a combination of the previous work. This octopus toy is not only cute, but also easy to make. Before, you’ll have to make a few braids out of the fabric, and then tie the ends up together with the stuffed ball as the head. Sure it will amuse your dog as you toss it in the air.
Stuffed squeaky softie
Finally, let’s try with something different. In this, you will have to put more effort than you do when making the no-sew toys. Cut out the pattern you like on the fabric, sew the edge of the inner part halfway, put acrylic stuffing inside, and continue sewing. Make creative shapes such as sharks or bones; and it will be better that you decorate it again. Such a cute toy to chew on!
